20th Kerala State CBSE School Kalolsav got off to a colourful start at the MES Central School, Tirur

TIRUR (MALAPPURAM): Tirur takes pride of place in the cultural map of Kerala as it is famous as the birthplace of the father of Malayalam language Thunchath Ezhuthachan. The coastal city in Malappuram where thousands of children are given their first lessons in Malayalam witnessed an ensemble of different art forms as the 20th Kerala State CBSE School Kalolsav got off to a colourful start at the MES Central School here on Monday.
Nearly 3, 500 students from 114 schools from four zones across the state will be participating in the three-day fest organized under the aegis of Kerala CBSE School Managements' Association. Students will compete in a total of 144 items in 16 steps across the campus of MES Central School, which is celebrating its silver jubilee this year. The state festival is the culmination of three-tier youth festivals conducted at school and zonal levels.
The festival showcases a wide range of events including folk dance, oppana, Mohiniyattam, one-act plays, classical vocal, classical instrumental solos, elocution, essay writing, painting, mimicry and duff mutt. Participants with most number of points will be presented with 'Kalaprathibha' and 'Kalathilakam' honours. The zone with most number of points will be awarded the Sabareesh Gopalan Memorial Golden Cup and the school which bags the highest number of points from the zone will have the honour of being the custodian of the Golden Cup.
The festival was declared open by noted writer C. Radhakrishnan. Kerala CBSE School Managements' Association President Adv T.P.M. Ibrahim Khan presided over the function.
