Don’t think anything can go against Byomkesh Bakshy, says Dibakar Banerjee

The director breaks his silence on the controversy surrounding Swastika Mukherjee

Mumbai: The female lead of Dibakar Banerjee's upcoming Bollywood film Detective Byomkesh Bakshy - Bengali actress Swastika Mukherjee - is mired in controversy. The actress has been accused of shoplifting in Singapore. She was in Singapore to attend a film festival and had gone to the boutique with filmmaker, Suman Mukherjee and several other guests from Kolkata. Swastika was the only actress in the 35 people contingent that traveled to Singapore to attend the Darpan Film Festival which celebrates best of Bengali cinema.

Swastika who all is set to make her Bollywood debut oppposite Sushant Singh Rajput, has been creating waves even before the film's release. However, the film's director Dibakar Banerjee does not feel that the controversy will mar the prospects of his film. He is confident about his project and is in fact worried about Swastika’s reputation. He feels it is a very unfortunate incident and is concerned about the actress's image.
“I don’t think anything can go against Byomkesh Bakshy. So I don’t think we should think about that. Rather, we should worry about the incident and the reputation of the actor. This incident is unfortunate and I hope it gets resolved amicably as soon as possible," said a confident Dibakar Banerjee.
