Coimbatore’s youngest corporation commissioner
Dr Vijay Karthikeyan expected to take over the administrative reins of the civic body on Wednesday
Coimbatore: The industrial city of Coimbatore gets its youngest corporation commissioner with 28-year-old Dr Vijay Karthikeyan expected to take over the administrative reins of the civic body on Wednesday.
A 2011 batch IAS officer with a medical degree, Dr Karthikeyan said he is excited about the opportunity that has been bestowed upon him. "I would look at speedy implementation of schemes in the city," he told DC.
There would be no room for delay or red-tapism, he said. Redressal of public grievances will be made available on multiple platforms. As he was a doctor, sanitation and health would be prioritised, he added.
Dr Karthikeyan, known for his swift action in his previous assignments, had introduced one-hour patta scheme in Kovilpatti to ensure grant of pattas in record 60 minutes.
He passed out of Ramachandra Medical College in 2009 and was posted as assistant collector (training) at Erode and sub-collector at Kovilpatti before his appointment as corporation commissioner of Coimbatore. He is the son of additional principal chief conservator of forest, Mr R. Kannan.
