Classes returning along with capital
Guntur: The educational training and coaching institutes, which went to Ameerpet of Hyderabad several years ago are now returning to Brodipet in Guntur.
The first private tutorial, Ravi Tutorials, was started in Brodipet and several others started coaching centres switching Brodipet into an educational hub. Later, these institutions went to Ameerpet, but as the new capital is going to be established in Tulluru, these institutions are returning to Guntur.
An advertising consultant, K. Bharavi recalled that during the 1990’s, nearly 200 coaching centres were operated in five lines of Brodipet and students from all over the state used to stay at Brodipet for coaching. He said that many people got government jobs and in private companies at Hyderabad and settled there.
Mr Bharavi said that during the beginning of the software era, these coaching centres went to Ameerpet due to the preference of the public for Hyderabad against Guntur.
He said that now several coaching centres like Apex, Arena and others have returned to Brodipet and in the next two years, they are expecting the total return of Andhra-based coaching centres to Brodipet from Ameerpet.
The Unique IAS Study Circle and Visu Academy recently started their offices at Brodipet. Presently, around 20 coaching centres based in Ameerpet have started their offices on the second and third lines of Brodipet.
K. Satyanarayana of Visu Academy said that Guntur would become the main education hub in the new capital and more coaching centres and academies are planning to shift to Brodipet making good use of its past glory.
The increasing demand for space is increasing rents in Brodipet as the minimum rent of Rs 7,000 in this area has recently increased to Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000.
Retired deputy collector, S. Ismail said that Brodipet is regaining its past glory with the return of coaching centres and predicted that Brodipet would emerge as another Ameerpet.
