Kidambi Srikanth upset Lin Dan 21-19, 21-17 in the final to clinch the China Open Super Series title in Fuzhou. Srikanth became the first Indian male shuttler to win a Super Series Premier event ever since the Super Series and Premier tournaments- Playing every game as if it was a knock-out game, the 'ruthless Indian side under Virat Kohli demolished Sri Lanka in all the five games of the series.
- With a match-winning century in the final game of a bilateral series against Sri Lanka, skipper Virat Kohli wrapped up India's very special sporting week.
- Rohit took Sri Lankan bowling attack to cleaners as he smashed 264 off 173 balls hitting 33 boundaries and 9 sixes. He also broke compatriot Virender Sehwag's 219 against West Indies in 2011.
- In the fourth ODI against Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the Rohit Sharma went berserk hitting bowlers all around the park. The Mumbai batsman became the first batsman to score two ODI double-hundreds.
- Olympic bronze-medallist Saina Nehwal clinched the USD 700,000 China Open Super Series Premier tournament after she defeated her Japanese opponent in the summit clash.
- In her sixth appearance in the prestigious China Open Super Series, the Indian badminton ace Saina Nehwal had to draw from her reservoir of experience to stave off the challenge of Japan's Akane Yamaguchi in the final.
