Snapchat’s recent outburst of leaked images that were splattered all over the net has Snapchat on the war front to guard user’s privacy.
Snapchat has taken user privacy seriously and has decided to block all user accounts in case they are violating the use of the original app.
Snapchat has posted a note on their website that if a user is accessing Snapchat via a third-party application, Snapchat will detect and disable the user account permanently.
Snapchat has warned its users that they are monitoring their user’s activity via the app usage statistics. They have warned that they will lock the account temporarily if they are using a third-party app and the user will have to uninstall the app and change the password. If they continue to use a third-party app thereafter, their account will be permanently disabled.
Third-party apps are presently being sent the message (as below) and are being warned.
The recent outburst of explicit private pictures by Snapchat users being leaked out to the world had sparked the online community. Snapchat stated that the images were not stored on their servers and neither their servers were hacked. Their research leaded them to find out that Snapchat users were accessing the service through a third-party app, which was in turn storing all the images. The images were leaked via the third-party servers, and most images included selfies and photos of underage girls. Since a higher number of Snapchat users were teen and children, the issue of child pornography images was a bigger threat.
