Amitabh Bachchan to receive 2nd Yash Chopra memorial award
The actor will receive a gold medal and Rs. 10 lakh for the prestigious title
Mumbai: Bollywood's living legend, Amitabh Bachchan will receive 2nd Yash Chopra memorial award. The award is presented by the T Subbarami Reddy foundation.
T S Reddy himself announced the big news at the press conference along with the members of the jury- Anu Ranjan, Hema Malini, Simi Garewal, Pamela Chopra and Anil Kapoor. Due to some commitments, Anil Kapoor couldn't be present for the event held today.
Late Yash Chopra's wife, Pamela is extremely happy as her husband's memory is still alive through this prestigious award. She said, "When my husband was alive, he and Subbarami were very close. They were always together when they were in the same town. I am so happy that Subbarami has translated this friendship into this memorial award."
Last year Lata Mangeshkar had received the prestigious award. The award is given to deserving and prominent figures from the Indian cinema for their outstanding contributions in diverse fields. The jury members unanimously decided that Amitabh Bachchan definitely deserves the award this year.
On announcing this, Hema Malini said, "I am very happy he (Amitabh) is receiving this award." Simi added, "People who do great work, and are legends should be honoured in their lifetime. I think that is exactly what this Yash Chopra memorial award is doing, honouring great people like Lataji and Amitabh Bachchan. As a jury, when we were thinking about Amitabh Bachchan for this award, we didn't even have to catch a breath. Everyone was unanimous of the fact that he is deserved it."
Big B will receive a gold medal and Rs. 10 lakhs for the prestigious title. The actor will receive the award in December this year, the date hasn't been decided yet.
