Srinagar: As conflicting voices on Jammu and Kashmir’s future relationship with rest of the country continue to emanate from the Sang Parivar, BJP president Amit Shah on Thursday said his party alone can bring about “complete integration” of the state with India.
His statement comes a day after Union home minister Rajnath Singh sought to simmer down the furore created in local political circles by the statements made by some senior RSS and BJP leaders earlier.
Mr Shah, while speaking at an election rally at Ramban, said, “These elections are crucial as far as the complete integration of the state of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the country is concerned.”
He added, “Only a BJP government can make it happen.” Though he did not touch the issue of abrogation of Article 370, the Sangh Parivar have always maintained that there can be “complete integration” of J&K with the country only when Article 370 of the Constitution which guarantees a special status to the state within the Indian Union is scrapped.
Mr Shah sought people’s support towards realising BJP’s dream of “complete integration of the state with rest of the country”.
He said, “We want complete integration of the state of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the country and the people of the state will have to help us in realising this dream.” BJP has set +44 Mission for itself in J&K to grab power on its own. But conflicting statements that have been coming from party leaders and also from RSS are likely to affect its efforts.
