RSS wants more fellows in Sanskrit
New Delhi: Not satisfied with Union human resources development minister Smriti Irani’s effort to “Indianise” the education system, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh seems to be pushing for more.
The ideological parent of the ruling BJP wants an increased number of research fellowships in higher education institutes for Sanskrit to help India unlock the ancient knowledge potential.
Sources said that senior functionaries of the right-leaning outfit have reportedly told the HRD minister that more needs to be done on the front of promoting the ancient Indian language.
The RSS functionaries have pointed out that not enough research is being done on studying and unveiling the knowledge hidden in ancient Sanskrit texts.
The RSS is understood to be pushing for Sanskrit teaching and research in the education sector. It was pointed out that more than 95 per cent of Sanskrit literature has nothing to do with religion. Instead, it deals with philosophy, law, science, literature, grammar, phonetics and interpretation, which still needed to be researched by modern-day scholars.
It had also rooted for proper recognition for the contribution of Hindu culture and religion to nation building and pitched for a practical instead of theoretical approach in the education system. They also batted for moral education in schools and colleges.
