Kiss of love word war: Shobha pokes fun at Sorake’s ‘culture’
Mangaluru: Objecting to minister Vinay Kumar Sorake's sarcastic remarks on her in connection with Kiss of Love controversy, Udupi-Chikkmagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje blamed the Congress government for trying to stifle the voices of protestors.
"We have an uncultured uncivilised government in the state. They feel they can speak anything about anybody. Such statements expose the Congress culture,” Shobha told reporters at BC Road on Sunday.
"We had seen the reaction of Congress leader V.S. Ugrappa and others when I raised my voice in support of the victime in the tirthahali incident and against atrocities on women. Similarly when I spoke against Kiss of Love, they have come with such words. These are efforts to silence the protests,” Shobha said.
“Their tongue shows their culture. People of the state are keeping a watch on this,” she said.
On Minister Mahadev Prasad’s statement that BJP too had tainted ministers and Shobha owned an estate in Kodagu, she hit back asking if purchasing an estate amounted to corruption.
“If he wants to know about the money which was used to purchase the estate, let him go legally and get details from the banks,” she suggested.
Ms Shobha also said that the BJP high command had initiated action against those who faced charges.
