Please spare a thought for Sean Abbott
Sydney: Australian bowler Sean Abbott, who recently made his ODI debut against Pakistan, was enjoying a wonderful season with New South Wales. The 22-year-old grabbed a handful of wickets and was viewed as one with a bright cricketing future.
With age on his side and readiness to go through the rigours of domestic circuit, a flourishing career with Australia wasn’t a far-fetched dream. But a tragic incident on Tuesday morning seemed to have threatened his prospects on the emotional level.
On day one of the Sheffield Shield game against, his bouncer, which rose from the good length hit the batsman Phil Hughes on his head. What transpired from thereon till Thursday morning has left all the parties involved - Abbott, Hughes and the cricketing fraternity- in tatters.
The cricketing world is disturbed if not shell-shocked with the passing away of the young and promising Australian batsman who could not recover from a horrible injury he sustained. While his untimely death has been disturbing, the consequences it would have on Abbott’s sporting career could well be far deeper.

Difficult it surely is, but Abbott must show the willingness to remain strong. More power to him.
