'Qubool Hai' stars Karavir Bohra and Surbhi Jyoti spill the beans
Karanvir Bohra and Surbhi Jyoti play the lovable Aahil and Sanam from ‘Qubool Hai.’ While fans drool over their sizzling chemistry, we get to know the who they really are off the cameras, in an exclusive chat.
1) Reveal some hidden talent/trait about each other that fans don’t know?
Surbhi: Karanvir is an amazing artist. He has the capability of making portrait sketches of people and things exactly the way they are.
Karanvir: Surbhi loves sleeping! Given a chance she wouldn’t mind sleeping for 14-16 hours a day. If she can shoot for 14-16 hours in a day she is capable of sleeping for that long too.
2) Something about you that fans don’t know?
S: I can be quiet too. My fans think that I speak a lot but there is a side to Surbhi which is extremely quiet and believes a lot in meditation and peace.
K: People think I have a lot of attitude, ego and that I’m always angry. While actually I’m the complete opposite, I’m a funny, silly guy! Someone who is very carefree in life.
3) If not an actor what would be the perfect profession for your co-star and why?
S: KV would have been an artist if not an actor.
K: She speaks a lot and has a lot of information and gyaan so she could actually be a very good teacher.
4) Something that you admire about each other?
S: The biggest quality in KV’s personality is that he is a big support. If he is your friend, he will stand by you through thick and thin and will treat you like family. Also, he doesn’t have this air about himself and that’s what I admire about him.
K: Surbhi is very spontaneous and one thing that I really admire about her is that if she makes someone her friend, she keeps them close to her for life. There are only a select few people who are actually close to her and she really sticks by them. She also can make a room, or a group and even the screen come alive with her presence.
5) Something you would like to change about each other?
S: I think he is a little stubborn about certain things and even he knows that he needs to change that about himself.
K: When it comes to Surbhi there are a lot of people who try to guide her or keep trying to mother her and I think she should stop listening to everyone and just lead a life on her own terms.
6) Who is the prankster on the sets?
S: Definitely, out of the two of us I am the prankster on the sets. As such I don’t remember any incident right now but there have been many.
K: Yes, she is more of a mastikhor. We both love talking constantly and we have such animated conversations where she’ll talk and I’ll say something and then she’ll reply and it’ll go on and on. I think we both are people who choose to voice our opinions whether people like it or not. That’s another thing I like about her.
7) Any behind the scenes memory that makes you laugh even today?
S: We have a lot of fun on the sets. There have been many such instances where KV and I just start laughing over something trivial and can’t stop. The situation goes to the extent that the production people need to wait for us to become normal so that they can resume the shoot. And every time I sit and think of any such instance, the fact that the thing which we were laughing at was so small makes me laugh again.
K: My first day of shooting I remember for the first scene with her I had to wear glasses and I’m very particular about anything that is part of my look, whether its glasses, a shirt or my hair. So she comes up to me and tells me the way you’re wearing your glasses is very un-stylish, why don’t you wear it in a better way? Imagine it’s the first day of shoot and she says something like this to me! And I’m like excuse me? So yeah, that is a funny incident I still remember. (both laugh)
8) A compliment by fans that made you blush?
S: Once a fan came on the set and told me that he hasn’t come to meet me but has in fact come to propose to me for marriage. He added saying that if I said yes; he plans to take me home after my pack up. To this I replied saying that I am sorry you have come way too early, my pack up is only at 10 pm, that guy was left stunned.
K: Similarly, once a fan said to me I don’t care that you’re married, I want to marry you and I don’t mind being your second wife!
9) Who is talkative one among you two? The one who cracks up/ starts laughing in between shots.
S: I am the one who talks a lot on the set. KV finds me extremely funny and there have been many such instances where the two of us start laughing and then we simply can’t stop! We try so hard and every time we try to shoot in those moments, we start laughing again. Our director then stops shooting and waits for us to get normal before we resume work.
K: Actually, we both start laughing between the shots but she talks a lot. It’s actually a very normal thing, once you start laughing you can’t stop. And then the director has no choice but to cut and sit down for like 5-10mins and then he’ll try being angry with us and nothing will work, then he’ll try to reason with us and then he’ll try to throw a fit and finally he’ll ask us to enjoy our laugh and get it out of our systems. The more the actors laugh, the more irked the directors get!
10) The funniest/ oddest question a fan has asked you?
S: Once I remember, it was Ramzan and I was having Pani Puri in Lokhandwala. Some of my fans spotted me and asked me why I hadn’t observed Roza. It was an awkward moment and I didn’t know what to say, so I just smiled.
K: I was once asked, “Are you married to Surbhi?”
