Mumbai: Celebrity host Gauahar Khan made headlines on Monday morning, after a man from the audience got on stage and slapped her for wearing 'short clothes'. The incident has created quite a bit of stir in the industry.
During the launch of 'Badlapur' trailer, the stars voiced their opinions about the issue. Varun Dhawan spoke about the cowardly act, “It’s terrible obviously; I mean no one will support something like that. If I was there I would definitely pick up the hammer against this guy. It’s a very cowardly act and this man should be punished and someone should go and slap him because he’s a stupid guy."
His co-star from the film, Nawazuddin Siddiqui also agreed on what Varun said, “Yes, he has made a very big mistake.”
Huma Qureshi who was also present at the event, expressed her thoughts over the serious issue. "It’s about safety of women and how we look at them. I think anybody who disrespects them or resorts to any form of violence against women, I think should be punished and as a society we should compeletely condemn it and why should a woman feel apologetic about what she’s wearing. What you wear is your decision as a women, you can’t resort to violence because of that."
Meanwhile, several other Bollywood celebrities like Farhan Akhtar, Sushmita Sen and Alia Bhatt have also extended their support.
