Chennai: A week after doctors at Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre certified him fit, Class 8 boy of Loyola Matriculation school, at the centre of the PT teacher assault controversy, was finally discharged on Tuesday night. Though doctors at the private hospital certified him fit a week ago, neither of his parents had turned up to take him home. “We waited till Tuesday evening for his mother to turn up, but she did not.
We got a call from a senior official of the Kodambakkam police station asking us to discharge the kid after making him identify his relatives. He identified his aunt and uncle (mother's sister and husband) and we discharged the boy,” said Dr A. Ravi, medical director, Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre. It all began on November 20 when the Class 8 boy complained of an assault by his physical training teacher S. Bhaskar Raj.
Soon after the boy reached home, a gang of Arulanandam's employees entered the school premises and attacked the PT master. Police arrested Arulanandam from a farm house in Manikandapuram on Sunday night.The boy's parents admitted him to the hospital on November 21 with giddiness complaint. “He was admitted for cerebral concussion and then we performed CT scan of the brain just to make sure everything was normal. The result was normal and we treated him for giddiness,” said doctors.
He remained at the A7 suite of SRMC for 12 days whiling away the time by watching TV and speaking over the phone. Sources at the hospital said a woman, believed to be an employee of Arulanandam's Rich India company, was attending to the patient. The boy took vegetarian food provided by the hospital and that the cost of the suite for a day was around Rs 6,000.
