Microsoft launches a voice search app for Android smartphones

Torque Search 2.0 is available as a free download on Play Store

Similar to Google’s ‘Ok Google’, Microsoft has launched a voice search app called ‘Torque Search’ for Android smartphones. Previously, Torque was available only for the Android Wear smartwatch, however, with the recent version of the voice search app, it has been rolled out to smartphones with additional features.

The app provides instant search to queries about flight status, nearby restaurants, weather reports and more. These searches are sourced via Microsoft’s search engine Bing.

A user can access Torque by just shaking the handset (the shake feature can be activated by checking the ‘shake anytime’ option in the settings of the app), which pops up a tiny box that awaits a command.

On the Play Store, Torque received mixed reviews by users. While some said that the voice search app is quite accurate and gets the command right almost every time, some users pointed out few bugs in the app.
