Acer Aspire S7 392 Ultrabook review: Costs a fortune, but worth every penny!
If you are looking for a laptop that is sleek and portable, yet powerful at the same time, the Acer Aspire S7 392 is a faithful option. Acer’s latest Ultrabook looks gorgeous with its alabaster body, which is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2, giving it both suave and strength.
The Acer Aspire S7 392 Ultrabook has a white and silver unibody design, which is a refreshing change from the black-grey palettes of most of the laptops. The laptop sports a Gorilla Glass 2 lid, which, owing to the white exterior, does not attract fingerprints and smudges, keeping it pristine for longer periods.

The Acer Aspire S7 392 weighs a mere 1.3kg, and is slender with a 12.9mm thick chassis. It sports an HDMI, USB 3.0 and a Mini DisplayPort on the right side, and a headphone jack sits right next to it. The left edge of the ultrabook accommodates a charging port, an SD card slot, a power button and another USB 3.0 port.
On the bottom, the Aspire S7 392 features a vent, which is placed along the rear, and towards the front sit two Dolby Home Theatre speakers on either side. Though the speakers are loud enough, they could be placed better (maybe on the top) for a better audio experience. Audio sometimes sounds a bit flat in different modes—game, movie, etc.
The Acer Ultrabook features a 13.3-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) touch-screen display, with a 720p webcam sitting on the top, as usual. The maximum opening angle of the lid (panel) is almost 180 degrees. Although the lid flips up to a wide angle, it still is quite steady, and doesn’t wobble while using the touch screen. More so, the laptop’s touch screen experience is great, with a sensitive and responsive touch.
Additionally, the device features a Wireless Display technology, which extends the notebook display to a bigger screen, without the hassles of cables and wires. Also, the Ultrabook plays full HD videos flawlessly and the viewing angles are quite clear with no colour blending or inverting from any angle.
The Acer Aspire S7 392 Ultrabook houses a chiclet keypad, with a conveniently placed trackpad on the centre of the keyboard, just below the space key. Instead of a separate row of function keys, the functions are mapped on the regular keys, which can be activated by pressing the function key. Also, the keypad features a pinkie size caps lock key, however, it’s only a fair trade for all the extra space for the other keys, as the caps lock key isn’t used that often.
Running on Microsoft Windows 8 operating system, the Acer Aspire S7 392 is powered by 1.6 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5-4200U processor, with 4GB of DDR3 RAM and 128GB of solid state storage (SSD). An Intel HD 4400 graphics processor is included, which helps increase the performance of the notebook, especially while gaming and using graphic-based applications. Additionally, the Ultrabook features 802.11b/g/n wireless and Bluetooth v4.0 for connectivity.
The Acer Aspire S7 392 Ultrabook is fuelled by 6280mAh Li-Polymer battery. Acer claims the Ultrabook to give a maximum runtime of 8 hours. However, the runtime will vary from user to user and will depend on the type of usage, namely browsing, gaming, multimedia or alike. Other than that, the Ultrabook is powerful enough and offers a great user experience.
Priced at Rs 1,02,999, the Acer Aspire S7 392 Ultrabook bundles along with a chic and classy tan colour protective sleeve, which is an amazing alternative instead of the bulky black bags that generally come along most laptops. The Ultrabook is also accompanied by a charging adapter and an extension power cable. However, considering the premium look and quality of the device, the quality of the power brick is average.
Advised for executives and the affluent crowd, we think, though exorbitantly priced, the Acer Aspire S7 392 Ultrabook is worth all the big money.
