60 ‘she’ teams formed to nab eve teasers in Cyberabad
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police will be using hidden cameras and policewomen in plain clothes to nab eve teasers in the IT corridor and other important areas.
The Cyberabad police on Tuesday launched SHE teams under the leadership of a woman IPS officer — Malkajgiri DCP R. Rama Rajeswari — to check eve teasing and stalking.
About 60 teams will fan out in all parts of Cyberabad to catch offenders.
Cyberabad police commissioner C.V. Anand said that police has identified more than 200 hot-spots where eve teasers target working women and college students. “The SHE teams will watch out for eve teasers and stalkers at bus stops, colleges and other public places. Each team will have an SI or ASI rank officer and women constables who will be provided with spy cams to film the acts as evidence,” he said.
The commissioner said that the SHE teams will respond to ‘Dial 100’ calls and go to the crime scene. “The team will record the offenders’ actions using spy cams and will take them into custody. We will conduct counselling session at the police stations along with the eve teasers’ parents, ” Mr Anand said.
“A Facebook page has been launched for the SHE team. We have also started ‘A Crime against Women’ cell in the office of the commissioner, ” said Ms Rajeswari.
