Apurva Agnihotri is back on the small screen in a fiction show after a long while and is currently seen in Ajeeb Daastaan Hai Ye on Life OK, with Sonali Bendre. The actor says he is happy doing daily soaps rather than reality shows (he was part of Bigg Boss last season), and took some time out of his shoot schedule to chat with us about work and more.
Fans were hoping to see your wife Shilpa (Saklani) essaying the role of your girlfriend in ADHY…that didn’t work out?
Yes, the viewers wanted Shilpa in Ajeeb Daastaan Hai Ye as my ex-girlfriend and of course I would be more than happy to have her on the show! But the channel and production house are the ones who have to take a call.
What reactions have you got for the show so far?
People have said they love the show and find it refreshing. I’ve been told that they find it more “real” than saas-bahu soaps.
Are you open to doing more reality shows?
I don’t mind doing them, but I prefer daily soaps.
Is it better to work in a show with a finite run time?
Yes, I prefer shorter soaps as daily shows get monotonous after a while. Everyone loves to watch a show that might run for about 6-8 months as it doesn’t become monotonous. Finite shows are trending nowadays.
Having been part of the previous season, are you following the current season of Bigg Boss? What do you think of the contestants?
I haven’t seen a single episode of Bigg Boss. I haven’t heard great things about it. The impact is missing…
Is there something about your time in Bigg Boss that you still recollect?
When Shilpa was eliminated, I was kind of depressed. It was very disappointing to see her out of Bigg Boss. I don’t want to have that phase back in my life ever!
