It was to be her first Christmas since separating with husband Ben Cohen in September. And Abigail Cohen, his partner for 11 years, was feeling the strain when she tweeted and later deleted a message saying she was too “broken” to get out of bed.
Abby, who has two six-year-old twin daughters with the former Strictly Come Dancing star and rugby ace, was spending this Christmas as a single mum, while Cohen volunteered for the charity Crisis UK.
The day before Christmas Eve, Abby whose Twitter images still feature her teenage sweetheart told her followers: “Don’t want to get up!! feeling very broken today” which was completed with a teary-eyed emoticon.
Ben’s Strictly dance partner Kristina Rihanoff was targeted on Twitter in the wake of the married couple's split, being labelled a “homewrecker,” which later lead her to contemplate suicide, she admitted last week.
News of Kristina’s struggle has reportedly hit Abby hard, with a source telling The Sunday Mirror: “It has been a terrible time for Abigail and now she has to read this stuff she is coming out with saying how bad it has all been for her.”
