One inch bolt removed from Karthik’s back: Bengaluru blast victim

An inch-long bolt was embedded in his scapula and it has been taken out

Bengaluru: Karthik (22), a close relative of deceased Bhavani and was admitted to Mallya Hospital with a shrapnel injury to his back in the Church Street blast on Sunday night, is now said to be out of danger.

“He is doing well and is most certainly out of danger now," said Dr Kanchan Sanyal, medical superintendent, Mallya Hospital, told Deccan Chronicle. Karthik, an MBA student at Dayananda Sagar College and resident of Mavalli near Lalbagh, has been shifted from Surgical ICU to a special ward.

“When Karthik was brought into the hospital he had injury on the upper back and some foreign material (shrapnel) had gone inside the upper back. We took him for the surgery on Sunday night," the Medical Superintendent said.

Dr Sanyal said, “An inch-long bolt was embedded in his scapula and it has been taken out. He is stable and will be discharged in a day or two barring any complications." Dr Sanyal said that the hospital was helping the police with the investigation.
