Was that a poke?
Poor Saina Nehwal faces another day of screaming from the roof-tops as she continues to explain that she never “demanded” the prestigious Padma Bhushan award for herself.
“Friends I’m not demanding for the award. my question was why my name was not sent to the home ministry and then of course the panel will decide the awards,” Saina had recently written on the social networking site.
But on Monday, badminton colleague Jwala Gutta lit the fuse again. Jitesh Pillai, editor of a Bombay-based film magazine had tweeted, “Saina Nehwal should concentrate on the sports not the awards. Better to win medals for your country no? Why chase petty personal glory”.
Pat came an endorsement from Jwala Gutta, saying, “@jiteshpillaai totally agree..and who asks??”
Jwala’s tweet remains vague. Is she unaware of Saina’s vehement denials? Or was that just a poke at a fellow shuttler who seems to be stuck in a loop, trying to explain the difference between a request and a demand.
