No evidence Emma’s brother was murdered
Chennai: State CB-CID officials said on Tuesday that there was no forensic evidence to show that Frankfurt Fernandez, brother of Dr Emma Gonzales, the octogenarian psychologist killed by a teenager in her posh apartment in Egmore six months ago, was murdered three years ago. During the probe by the city police into the killing of Emma, it was assumed that Immanuel, son of Frankfurt Fernandez, had murdered his spinster aunt for property. Because of this, Immanuel’s brothers suspected that he had murdered their father, too, for property.
Immanuel was earlier arrested by city police for forging his aunt Dr Emma’s will. “Forensic tests were conducted on the exhumed body of Frankfurt who died in June 2011, and there is nothing to show that he was murdered,” a senior CB-CID official disclosed. The body of Frankfurt, who died at age 83, was exhumed from a Kilpauk cemetery in October based on a complaint from Immanuel’s brother that their father had also died under suspicious circumstances.
After Emma’s murder on June 13 this year and the subsequent arrest of Immanuel for forgery of the will, the other family members started suspecting that Frankfurt could have also been murdered like his sister. The city police registered three cases after Emma’s death, one related to the murder of Emma, the second about the suspicious death of Fernandez and the third on the authenticity of Fernandez’s will, which was in favour of Immanuel.
All the cases were transferred to the CB-CID on September 30. A week later, on October 8, a 15-year-old boy surrendered at a juvenile court claiming that he had murdered Dr Emma when she was alone at home for the gold she possessed. The boy’s father runs a shop selling foreign goods and Emma came in contact with the boy and his father through Immanuel for purchasing an LED TV and cordless phone.
As of now, Immanuel, who is the main suspect in the death of Emma and Frankfurt, seems to have managed to wriggle out of both cases. The case of forgery of will of Emma registered by the city police is still there and the probe into the suspected forgery of will of his father is under investigation.
