Bhubaneswar: BJP president Amit Shah hit out at the Congress Tuesday for raising doubts over the Pakistan boat incident in the Arabian Sea, saying statements by its leaders seemed to indicate they were fighting elections in Pakistan.
“Many Congress leaders are raising doubts about the Pakistan boat incident in the Arabian Sea. Some of them are saying the boat which got destroyed mid-sea could belong to drug peddlers, and some question how the government knew it was a boat of terrorists.
This kind of behavior is unfortunate. I want to ask Congress leaders: Are you fighting elections in Pakistan?” he said.
Mr Shah claimed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the country’s intelligence agencies had concrete information that terrorists were trying to sneak into India by the sea route, and the Coast Guard was accordingly alerted. He complimented the Coast Guard, intelligence agencies and the PM for successfully thwarting the terrorists’ attempt.
Expressing confidence that the Modi dispensation would provide good governance in the country for many years, he said that instead of seeking to know its performance in the last six months, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi should submit a scorecard of the 60 years of rule by his party in India.
“Rahul ‘Baba’ is asking for a report card on what we have done in the last six months. I ask you, first give a report card on what your family has done in 60 years when it ruled the country,” said Shah.
Faulty UPA policies had pushed the nation into a situation of inflation, high prices and low growth, charged Shah, who claimed that the turnaround started after the politically stable Modi government came to the helm at the Centre.
“Rahul Baba, your government was always hiking the price of petrol and diesel. But look at our government, Rahul Baba. Petrol and diesel prices have come down by as much Rs 10 while food inflation has nosedived significantly,” he said.
