He filed RTI for money and fertiliser utilised for planting paddy saplings
Bhubaneswar: Seeking information about money and fertiliser utilised for planting paddy saplings has cost a farmer his life. His body was found buried under a bridge near a village in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Saturday. Police has detain two persons.
Krupasindhu Sahu, 40, had sought information from the district agriculture officer (DEO) through Right to Information (RTI) Act.
Soon after this, he started receiving threat calls from some of the villagers.
On January 26, Sahu had gone to a nearby market in the evening, but did not return. The villagers found Sahu’s bike near the Mahavir temple in the morning on January 28 and informed his family.
In a complaint to the police, Sahu’s wife said that she had received a call from an unknown person at about 8 am on January 30 who told her that he would return Sahu’s mobile phone and his bike key in exchange of money. The police on Saturday tracked the phone number and detained two persons.
