From child artiste to lead actress: Nitya Shetty
Nitya Shetty, who had acted in about 20 films as a child artiste, will be seen in her first role as a lead actress in the upcoming Telugu film Daagudu Mootha Dandakor. “I took a break after I did nearly 20 films as a child artiste. My mom wanted me to complete my education and then come back to films,” says Nitya, who completed her graduation in Electronics and Communication.
The actress, who says that she remembers only a few films from her childhood, adds, “I wanted to do some good films after I grew up. After five years, when I look back, I should not regret doing a film, whether it’s a glamorous, art or a commercial film.” She adds that she is ready for experimental roles too.
Nitya, who admires yesteryear actress Savitri, is now busy with a few Tamil films while waiting for her Telugu release. “Offers are coming in for Telugu films too but I first want to see how people receive my first Telugu film,” she says.
