Centre’s financial package disappoints
Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government is disappointed with the financial package announced by the Central government. The Centre announced Rs 850 crore in the financial package. The AP government had sent proposals for Rs 24,350 crore under the special development package for seven backward districts over a period of five years (2014 to 2019) and asked for Rs 5,000 crore in the present financial year.
But the Centre announced Rs 350 crore, at Rs 50 crore per district. AP finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that the financial package announced by the Centre is insufficient. He said that they will continue their efforts to get more funds from them.
The AP government had also projected a fiscal deficit of Rs15,600 crore in the present financial budget and asked the Centre to release Rs12,000 crore. But the Centre announced Rs 500 crore. The Centre, however, has said this was only an adhoc support of the recommendations of the inters-ministerial joint committee.
