Astrophysicist Naralikar doesn’t rule out presence of aliens in outer space
Raipur: India’s celebrated astrophysicist Jayant Narlikar does not rule out presence of aliens in other galaxies or planets.
In a question-answer session with students of Ravishankar Shukla University on Saturday, he said, “Although, we are yet to find concrete evidence to establish existence of extra-terrestrial beings, it is highly possible that aliens may be present in other galaxies or planets”.
“More earth like planets have been explored. Hence, existence of extra-terrestrial beings cannot be ruled out”, he said.
According to him, different means of communications with extra-terrestrial beings have been tried over the years — from sending out satellites to search them, to leaving information on discs on outer space for them to find their way to us. However, the most reliable means of communication is radio waves.
“We have been transmitting coded messages and illustrations to outer spaces with a sophisticated system of computer manning the radio receivers for the past three decades. But, the search requires patience, because assuming someone from the closest solar system ‘Alpha Centauri’ responds to us; the message will take eight-and-half years to reach us,” he added.
