Arjun Rampal hikes his fee
Roy is hitting the theatres this week and Arjun Rampal is very excited about his first big release in more than a year. The actor is positive that the film will connect with the audiences. However, he also seems to have gone from confident to over-confident. Word is that Arjun has re-worked his remuneration for future projects.
Sources close to him feel that his National Award and the quality of films that he has been associated with, puts him in a position that favours the hike. And his decision to do this comes just days before the release of Roy and the commencement of the shooting of the biopic on Arun Gawli. “I don’t think anyone else has a right to comment on it. An actor knows the work he has done, his fan following and his box office status. Arjun has been around for years and he has every right to ask for what he thinks he rightly deserves,” says a close source.
Even as a certain section of the industry feels that it’s suicidal on Arjun’s part to hike his fees at this point in his career, the actor has been making efforts to explain his reasons to producers. One only wonders that with top actors like Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn slashing their fees to get bigger films, whether or not Arjun’s decision will work for him.
