Varun Dhawan quizzed about AIB
Varun Dhawan, who has done only romantic/comedy movies in the past, is set to prove that he is a versatile actor with Sriram Raghavan’s Badlapur. The actor, along with co-stars Yami Gautam and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, stopped by Hyderabad to promote the movie. But more than their film, the actors were asked questions about what’s in the news. “Andariki Namaskaram… Chaala santosham (very happy) to be here. I had got the first hit of my career with my Telugu movie Nuvvila,” said Yami as she addressed the media.
Talking about the hot topic these days, the AIB Knockout, Varun said, “I think each of us should be entitled to freedom of expression. I guess those who liked it should enjoy and those who don’t like this type of comedy should not watch it.” He continues, “I guess this issue has got a lot of attention already. Finding the culprits from the gangrape video, which was being circulated on WhatsApp, should get attention.”
Yami, who endorses a fairness cream, was also at the receiving end for promoting the idea of girls having a fair skin. Yami clarified, “I am associated with the brand before I signed any movies. In fact, the highest sale is from South. Even my grandmother who stays in Himachal Pradesh uses it, not because it makes people fair, but since it is one of the oldest brands which people trust.” The surprise for the evening was, of course, Divya Kumar who performed on Badlapur’s hit song Jee Karda after the press conference.
