UK DIY chain urges staff to read 'Fifty Shades', here’s why
Melbourne: A British home-wares store B and Q staff has been told to ready themselves for a huge surge in customers looking for rope, cable ties and masking tape, following the release of 'Fifty Shades of Grey.'
In a leaked email, B and Q asked its staff to expect potentially sensitive questions amid increased queries about rope, cable ties and masking or duck tape, as people will try to recreate their own 'Fifty Shades' experiences, News.com.au reported.
The memo further noted a particular scene from the movie when Christian Grey went to a hardware store and bought rope, cable ties and tapes for his sexual pleasure and read that "rather than bought for home improvement purposes, these products are intended to fulfil Mr Grey's unconventional sexual pursuits."
It further read that as the UK's leading DIY store, they stock many of the products, like rope, cable ties, masking tape and duck tape, featured in this notable scene and then used later in the film.
A B and Q spokesperson said that the store remains committed to serving their customers in all their DIY needs and they strive to prepare their staff for any enquiry as customer satisfaction is always their number one priority.
