Chandrababu Naidu ‘barged’ into Telangana with goondas: TRS

TRS asked Naidu to come clean on denial of Telangana’s share of power

Hyderabad: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti slammed Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, for “barging” into Warangal with goondas and a posse of cars despite being rejected by the people.

The party condemned an attack on the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti by Telugu Desam activists when they tried to obstruct Mr Naidu’s convoy from Hyderabad to Warangal while denying TRS’ role in burning of a pandal and flexis of Mr Naidu in Warangal. “The TRS government has no role in the burning of a pandal and flexis. We condemn TD leader Dayakar Rao’s charges against TRS. Mr Naidu hired goondas and attacked MRPS activists,” Peddireddy Sudarshan Reddy, TRS Warangal district president said.

The TRS demanded that Mr Naidu come clean on denial of Telangana’s share of power from Krishnapatnam and Hinduja. MRPS activists staged protests against his visit without spelling out his stand on ‘Categorisation of SCs into ABCD groups’.

TD leader Mr Dayakar Rao and others were guarded while targeting the MRPS for vandalism, burning the stage and flexis of Mr Naidu at several places enroute Warangal. TRS MP K. Kavita alleged that Mr Naidu’s yatra was aimed at saving three TD leaders in TS, but she did not name them. “He has been rejected by TS. He is an outsider for us,” she said.

Meet sees impressive crowd

MRPS activists burnt TD banners welcoming Mr Naidu, in the early hours of the morning at Kazipet. A clash between the activists and TD workers ensued and two MRPS activists were taken into custody by the police. Some MRPS activists also barged into the TD office in Bhavaninagar and allegedly tried to torch the furniture there. About 100 activists were taken into preventive custody.

During his meet, Mr Naidu said that though the Telugu-speaking people had been geographically divided, people of both states were always together and should resolve their issues collectively through negotiations.

Addressing party workers at Hayagreeva Chary ground in Warangal, he said the party was still strong in TS and nothing could affect the TD’s surge in the future. Despite protests, the response from the people on his route to Warangal was impressive.

He also said that it was the TD that had brought about development in TS and Warangal. “I always wanted to do justice to both the regions. Only when poverty is eliminated totally from TS, will it be a true tribute to those who sacrificed their lives,” he said.
