Raj Thackeray sketches PM Modi – Sharad Pawar ‘love’
Mumbai: As his political standing in the state has weakened, MNS chief Raj Thackeray seems to have fallen back on his other love — cartoons — to revive his political prospects. In a new cartoon, he has once again targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On Sunday, he released a cartoon, taking a dig at Mr Modi and Sharad Pawar’s meeting in Baramati on Valentine’s Day.
After Delhi election results, the MNS chief had drawn a cartoon comparing Mr Modi and BJP president Amit Shah to the twin towers destroyed by Arvind Keriwal’s plane.
The new cartoon shows Mr Pawar and Mr Modi dining together and saying to each other “You are my Valentine”. Also, an RSS worker is seen reminding a Marathi manoos that Mr Modi had asked him to get rid of the uncle-nephew duo of Sharad and Ajit Pawar and was now dining with the same people.

Reacting to the cartoon, NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik said the MNS chief had the right to express himself. “But his opinion should not be taken as a public view. He has become inconsequential in politics and so he is busy finding ways to get back,” Mr Malik said. This is not the first time that Mr Thackeray, who was once an admirer of Mr Modi, has criticised the latter.
After BJP’s defeat in the Delhi polls, Mr Thackeray had attributed the failure to the Prime Minister. His earlier cartoon depicting Modi and Shah as twin towers also came in for criticism by city BJP president Ashish Shelar. He had said “He should do it full-time as his cartoons grab attention.”
