WC 2015: Misbah is no Imran Khan yet Pakistan can manage a turnaround

History suggests that Pakistan can beat the odds and up their game

Christchurch: If losing against arch-rivals India was not enough, Pakistan landed themselves in a tight spot after a defeat against West Indies on Saturday in ICC World Cup 2015. Their bowling, once their greatest strength, have been patchy and their batsmen seem to have forgotten the fact that the team comes before personal agendas.

The rift between some players and members of the team management is out in the open and the experts are terming this Pakistan side as one of their weakest teams to have ever participated in the World Cup.

However, the Misbah-ul-Haq-led unit can still make it to the quarterfinals.

While the task ahead is uphill, Pakistan can keep themselves in contention by winning the remaining four games without compromising on net run rate. Not that it would be a walk in the park, but at least it would provide them a hope of not returning to homeland even before reaching the knockout stage.

1992 World Cup triumph under Imran Khan is one of the best examples to indicate that Pakistan can beat the odds and up their game. The team then had won only one of its first five games but found its mojo to go all the way.

While Misbah is no Imran and the other Pakistani cricketers have not displayed slightest of glimpse of doing what Wasim, Inzamam, Mushtaq Ahmed and co. managed to do in 1992, they, if united can help Pakistan sail through.
