Get that Lollipop 5.1 update for your Nexus—it’s fast

Android Lollipop v5.1 is out and has started hitting the Nexus smartphones and tablets

Android had released the next major update to Lollipop with version 5.1. The new operating system version for Android is already rolling out, and Nexus users are reporting that their devices are receiving the update. Google has updated the Android Lollipop 5.0 with some major performance inprovements. Additionally, the support for dual SIM and HD voice has also been taken care of. Nexus users are also have also reported back stating that the new Lollipop v5.1 has made their smartphones faster than before.

Improvements on ART, several code cleanings and major optimizations on the Framework has been taken care of on the Lollipop 5.1. The new update also runs with full quad-core speed—if your processor is a quad-core, then Lollipop is optimised to use all four cores at all the time, making the device speedy, or less sluggish. This also helps tremendously as the Kernel task scheduler can now distribute the workload to all the four cores.

The improvements on the performance has also been tuned accordingly with power-saving techniques and Google has taken care of the battery life too. But yes, the Android Lollipop v5.1 is still newely released and a lot of people out there are initially having the priviledge of running it on their Nexus smartphones. However,it is a matter of time when people start reporting back with issues and bugs, if any. Hopefully, this is a good release after the minor disasters that Android Lollipop 5.0 initially had.

For users who have not yet received the Lollipop 5.1 update on their Nexus (maybe rooted users), you can download the Android firmware and manually flash the same to your devices. The flashing procedure is pretty simple, but we suggest you do it only if you know how to.
