IAS officer DK Ravi’s death: What was in last WhatsApp text?

Ravi’s last text message clearly suggests that he was going to end his life

Bengaluru: The late IAS officer D.K. Ravi’s last mobile phone text message to a woman IAS officer, who was his batch mate, clearly suggests that he was going to end his life. It is also revealed that he was desperate to spend some time with her, said sources in the Criminal Investigation Department, which is probing the case.

His messages to the woman officer are being analysed, but the last message read like a death note. “The last message from his phone was sent through WhatsApp and it is around 250 words. It is just like a suicide note and suggests that he was going to end his life. In the message, he has told the woman officer that he was not just her friend, but lover and his life has no meaning if he doesn’t marry a beautiful woman like her. Further, he has written that he was going to enter an eternal life soon and would meet her in their next life,” the source said.

Some parts of the messages are ‘objectionable’ and it was clear that Mr Ravi was propositioning the woman officer. “It is also said that he had booked a room in a hotel in Mysuru and was forcing her to spend some time with him. It is being investigated,” the source added.

Did Ravi’s female batchmate call Kusuma?

DK Ravi’s female batchmate, who has come clean on her course mate during her meeting with Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee, reportedly called the daring officer’s wife to offer condolences and to end misgivings about her role in the sordid episode.

Official sources said Mr Ravi’s frequent calls and messages to his course mate allegedly led to marital discord a couple of months ago when his wife Kusuma reportedly sent an sms to his batchmate, asking whether she would keep quiet if her husband behaved in a similar fashion.
