Watch: Team India – good chasers overseas, records show

The Men in Blue have chased 320-plus before, once in Australia too

Sydney: The Australians may have put up a winning total (328/7) on board in the semifinal of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 at the Sydney Cricket Ground here against Team India, but the Men in Blue have been smart chasers overseas.

Live Score, WC 2015 Ind vs Aus: Australia post imposing 328, but it's not over yet

Nobody believed that the Indians could chase and win till Sourav Ganguly made it happen against England in the Natwest Trophy final at the Lord’s in 2002. Riding on the captain’s fiery start (60 off 43), Yuvraj Singh (69 off 63) and Mohammad Kaif (87 not out off 75) ensured a proper finish.

Once again in 2007, the Indians chased 317 easily. Sachin Tendulkar had scored a handsome 94.

However, the venue of the semifinal is Australia and not Europe. But Indians did chase a 320-plus target in Hobart too, against Sri Lanka in 2012. Virat Kohli remained unbeaten on 133 off 86 balls.

Team India may not have a Tendulkar, Ganguly or a Yuvraj today but, they have a team that flaunts stars like Rohit Sharma – only cricketer to slam two double ODI tons, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane and not to forget, Captain Cool Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
