"This year around ten lakh tulip flowers will be in bloom comprising of 53 varieties in total," an official of the Flori-culture Department said.
The idea of the garden was conceived to advance the tourism season in the Valley by two months.Last year the garden was thrown open to public on April 5.

Formerly known as Siraj Bagh, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip garden was opened in 2008 by the then Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.
In addition to the tulips, the other flowers grown in the garden include Hyacinths, Narcissus, Daffodils, Muscuria and Iris.
This year around ten lakh tulips have been planted in the garden, spread over an area of 15 hectares.
