Sanjeev Kapoor is not as strict as he seems on the show: Nikita Gandhi
Mumbai: Abu Dhabi based, Nikita Gandhi, the youngest contestant on Masterchef India has won season 4 of the show. Now that the show has ended she says she will miss being on the sets, the most.
Nikita says, “It’s really a dream come true. I was just reciting prayers when the result was being announced. When I was declared winner, I kept wonder if the judges are joking, or it’s true. I’ve got so attached to the sets, it’s like when you move to a new apartment and fall in love with it. I can’t imagine not going back there, it still hasn’t sunk in that the show has ended. I will miss the goofy behaviour of the judges, off camera ”
Among the contestants Nikita says she will miss Karishma Sakhrani the most. “She was my roommate, we live together for four months, so I’ll definitely miss her most.”
Nikita goes on to admit that being an NRI she had never imagine she would survive in India so long. “I missed Arabic food, terribly. I had never imagined I would survive in India for more than a week. It is only after Masterchef that India feels like home. I still miss the clean streets and fresh air back home, but I can deal with it now, its okay.”
Telling us about her interest in cooking, Nikita reveals, “I was born with interest in cooking. While other kids watched Cartoon Network, I loved watching mom, in the kitchen, that was my favourite place. As soon as I grew tall enough to reach the kitchen counter I started cooking, when mom would leave the house. She was worried I would burn or injure myself but I wouldn’t give up.”
About her future plans she says, “I want to complete my studies and work with professionals. Eventually I plan to start my own restaurant but I have age on my side so there is no hurry.”
On a parting note, we get Nikita to reveal some secrets about judges Ranveer Brar, Vikas Khanna and Sanjeev Kapoor, “Ranveer is a great photographer, fans should follow him on instagram. Vikas is a good singer, his favourite song being Samjhavan, when we asked him to sing he would decline but we always caught him singing secretly in the breaks. Chef Sanjeev is not as strict as he seems (on the show), he’s actually very funny, and crack jokes all the time.”
