Hyderabad to ‘take away’ pink city tag from Jaipur
Hyderabad: The ruling TRS obsession is slowly spreading into all government-related projects and events, if one observes the government’s preferred colour.
Participating in the government’s flagship Mission Kakatiya programme, irrigation minister T. Harish Rao, transport minister P. Mahender Reddy and other ministers and party bigwigs were seen symbolically carrying silt unearthed from lakes in unusual pink coloured mixing bowls (Jabbalu in Telugu).
While masons, workers all over use iron bowls to carry cement mix, bricks and sand, the local TRS leaders have introduced pink coloured bowls at all tanks where the works were launched by VIPs.
Pink is not the flavour of the season, but it goes with the TRS’ party colour. “Such pink coloured plastic mixing bowls for carrying silt and cement cost about Rs 100 each. They have been especially ordered for Mission Kakatiya launch programmes since it goes with the party colour. Normally, masons and other building workers use iron mixing bowls,” a TRS leader said.
Apart from this, Hyderabad will soon also turn pink with banners, posters and cut outs for the mega TRS plenary on April 24 and a public meeting at the Secunderabad Parade Grounds on April 27.
The city has already been decked with huge cut-outs of party leaders at vantage points and more are expected.
“For a moment, Hyderabad will overshadow pink city Jaipur. You will see pink all over the city for the plenary,” a minister said. Of late, the CM is also making it a point to present pink coloured rose bouquets to the Governor and other VVIPS on all important occasions.
Apart from wearing pink shirts, khandwas, using pink towels has become a norm for TRS leaders who are also promoting pink in various walks of life.
