Shapoorji Pallonji ‘adopts’ Hyderabad city
Hyderabad: The Telangana government’s plan to develop Hyderabad as a global city got a shot in the arm with construction major Shapoorji Pallonji promising to invest Rs 20,000 crore to build new flyovers, grade separtors at junctions and roads in the city.
The company chairman, Mr Shapoor Mistry, met Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasehar Rao on Thursday and expressed invest in partnering with the Telangana government. Mr Rao briefed Mr Mistry about the initiatives being taken by the government in making Hyderabad, a global city.
He informed about the action plan drafted by the government to resolve traffic problem in city by constructing grade separators at busy junctions and roads. He also elaborated the plans of the government to build a new secretariat in Erragadda, constructing Kala Bharathi near Indira Park among other and said an estimated Rs 20,000 crore is required to fund all these projects.
Mr Mistry responded positively on these projects and offered to invest Rs 20,000 crore on their own to execute these projects.Following the discussion, it was decided to convene a meeting between officials of the company and the government to work out the modalities on taking these proposals forward.
