Sneha Wagh (Ratan from the show Veera) tied the knot recently with Anurag Solanki, who isn’t from the telly industry. In an interview with us, the couple talked about their “arranged-cum-love” marriage and how they’re learning to adapt to each other. Excerpts from the chat:
How did you meet and what was your first impression of each other?
Sneha: We met through a common friend. It wasn’t that we set up a meeting, he just happened to be there (with our friend) and I saw him. The first impression was a good one, but I wasn’t very keen initially on pursuing this. But he charmed me with his simplicity. Like other women, I also wanted to settle down. At the end of the day, you do need a companion. Glamour doesn’t last forever, but love and companionship do.
Anurag: Yes, we met through a common friend and from the very first look, I liked her a lot. She was very bubbly and friendly. I liked her simplicity. At the very start, I decided I wanted to marry her. And my choice has turned out to be the best.
You hail from different communities. Was it easy or difficult to bond with each other’s families?
Sneha: The bonding was easy and very smooth. The only difference between us is that his family are vegetarians whereas my family eats non-vegetarian food. We have common friends, so we’ve adjusted just fine. Moreover, he’s very accommodating as an individual, and so am I.
Anurag: Our families have bonded extremely well. As Sneha said, we only differ in our food choices. Flexibility in a relationship always helps and we are all mature adults.
Share a memory from your wedding.
Sneha: I met him for the first time last year and at our very second meeting, he proposed marriage. I was not ready for it, but time worked its magic. I think things happen when they’re supposed to happen, especially in matters of the heart. We had an Arya Samaj wedding and the priest was hilarious so I kept laughing during the ceremony and he’d keep asking me to stop. Our close friends and family were there. I enjoyed it very much.
Anurag: Our wedding day will always be the most memorable one for me. I got the partner of my choice. Sneha was very lively and looked beautiful. She is the ideal wife
How do both of you deal with Sneha’s fan following?
Sneha: Anurag is very new to all this… He is fine with my fans because nothing nasty has happened so far. He is unfazed by the entertainment industry. It’s just my profession. I am a normal girl when I
come home after the shoot.
Anurag: I am fine with Sneha’s fans. I have seen her working hard as an actor. She has lots of patience and is a very balanced person.
Is there a couple you take inspiration from?
Sneha and Anurag: Oh no, we do our own thing.
