After SP, BSP now BJP MLA’s donate salary for farmers' relief
Lucknow: Amid rising reports of farmers committing suicide over crop failure due to unseasonal rains and hailstorms, BJP MLAs in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday decided to donate their one-month salary towards the chief minister's relief fund.
"After consulting all party MLAs, BJP Legislature Party leader Suresh Khanna decided to their donate one month salary in CM relief fund," party spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said.
Earlier, Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati directed her MPs and MLAs to provide their one month salary directly as relief to farmers affected by unprecedented rains and hailstorm in their respective areas.
"The farmers are going through a bad phase due to unexpected rains and hailstorm, but despite reports of suicides the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh government were involved only in paperwork," Mayawati had alleged in a statement issued here.
Working to this end, senior Samajwadi Party leader cabinet minister Shivpal Yadav had announced to donate his month's salary for relief of farmers suffering from losses and appealed to all ministers and SP legislators to do the same.
"I am donating my month's salary for the relief fund of farmers. I appeal all my ministers and party legislators to do the same," Yadav had told reporters here.
