Chevrolet-FNR: General Motors unveils self-driving concept car
With the new emerging technology, self–driving cars is the next big thing the world is looking forward to. Auto companies are continuously working on designing smart cars for the future. However, Chevrolet showed off its latest concept car, the FNR, at the Auto Shanghai 2015.
Chevrolet FNR features dragonfly-styled doors, windshield, crystal laser headlights, taillights and sleek body build. Its roof-mounted radar caries sensors, which sports a three-dimensional mapping feature. This in a way allows the car to navigate through traffic and steer clear of various obstacles. A report by Detroit Free Press stated that this car has been developed at GM's Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center joint venture in Shanghai.
Chevrolet’s upcoming FNR is equipped with the Chevy Intelligent Assistant technology to intelligently sense the direct route to the driver's destination. When the self-driving mode, the front seats can swivel 180-degrees to face the rear seats. The owners of the FNR will easily be able to drive through gesture control. Adding to this, one can also switch to manual mode when needed.
