St. George’s (Grenada): Joe Root struck an unbeaten 182 as England were bowled out 464 to take a 165-run lead over West Indies before lunch on the fourth day of the second Test in Grenada on Friday.After an outstanding innings Root was left frustrated at the end as last man James Anderson was run out, leaving him 18 short of a double century.
England resumed on 373/3 with Root on 118 but he quickly lost Jos Buttler (13) who was stumped off leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo. Chris Jordan (16) was run out.
West Indies openers Kraigg Brathwaite and Smith faced a tricky spell before lunch as the hosts look to repeat their performance in Antigua where they earned a draw with a battling defensive batting performance.
West Indies all-rounder Marlon Samuels provided a new twist to his feud with Ben Stokes when he stood to attention and saluted his English rival off the pitch.The gesture by the West Indian drew praise and criticism on social media. Stokes and Samuels have been at each other’s throats in the match.
