IPL 8, DD vs RCB: Gayle,Starc lead RCB to victory over Daredevils
RCB pacers bowl out Delhi side for 95 runs at the Feroz Shah Kotla
New Delhi: Their all too familiar home ground woes returned to haunt the Delhi Daredevils on Sunday evening. After the hosts put an end to their nine-match losing streak at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in their previous game, normal services were resumed when Royal Challengers Bangalore carved out a comprehensive 10-wicket victory in a one sided Indian Premier League clash.

Chasing a meagre 95-run target, openers Chris Gayle (62 not out) and Virat Kohli (35 not out) produced some power-packed batting as RCB notched up their second consecutive win with almost 10 overs still to go. Gayle played a whirlwind knock, smashing six boundaries and four sixes during his 40-ball innings. Earlier, electing to field, RCB skipper Kohli saw his decision vindicated when his bowlers cleaned up the Delhi line-up for a paltry 95 runs.

RCB’s pace trio of Mitchell Starc (2/18), Varun Aaron (2/24) and David Wiese (2/17) came up with some excellent fast bowling on a green Kotla wicket. Young spinner Iqbal Abdulla also did well, giving away only 17 runs in his four overs while claiming the wicket of Delhi opener Mayank Agarwal. Kedar Jadhav (33) and Agarwal (27) were the only Delhi batsman who managed to put up some resistance against the Bangalore bowlers.
Starc struck in the very first over when he dismissed the in-form Shreyas Iyer with an inswinging yorker that appeared to be drifting down leg side. Skipper J.P. Duminy, who smashed a couple of boundaries during his 14-ball knock, looked in good nick before getting out. Aaron then sent back Yuvraj Singh and Angelo Mathews off consecutive deliveries. From there on it was a down hill ride for Delhi and it was only a matter of time before their innings folded up with 10 balls left.
