She spun her personal weight loss journey into the multimillion-dollar Weight Watchers empire

Washington: Weight Watchers founder Jean Nidetch has passed away. She was 91.
Nidetch, who is believed to have died in the Ft. Lauderdale area of natural causes, had given birth to the innovative idea in 1961 to help herself as she weighed 214 lbs at the time with 5'7 height, TMZ.com reported.
Following basic tips like not skipping meals, including fish in diet 5 times a week, veggies, etc, she started inviting friends and idea took off in 1963 with the company coming to life.
After that, Nidetch, who is known as first lady of Weight Watchers International gained popularity, even appeared on Johnny Carson's show.
The organization was sold to the Heinz Co.1978 for 71 million dollars.
Nidetch, who lived in one bedroom apartment, never compromised on food, drank regular sodas, and had her fridge stocked with Klondike bars and liked Mallomars.
