Madhurima Tuli signs Hollywood movie
Actress is playing the role of young Rani Jindan in the Hollywood movie The Black Prince
Riding high on the success of her last film Baby opposite Akshay Kumar, actress Madhurima Tuli is ready for her tryst with Hollywood. She’s signed her first Hollywood film, The Black Prince, which is based on the last King of the Sikh Empire in Punjab. The film is based on the life of Maharaja Duleep Singh, son of ruler Ranjit Singh, and Madhurima is playing young Rani Jindan, the younger version of Shabana Azmi, who is playing Maharaja Duleep Singh’s mother. Written and directed by Kavi Raz, the film stars Satinder Sartaaj, Shabana Azmi, Jason Flemyng, Amanda Root among others.
Sharing her preparation for the role, Madhurima says, “I don’t know Punjabi fluently, I took a week to understand the language. In fact, I got to know that Shabana ma’am wanted to meet me so we look similar in the role, but we couldn’t meet as she was busy with her shooting. So, I started watching her films to observe her gestures and eye movements to bring the same to my character.”
When asked what she has imbibed from watching Shabana’s films, Madhurima reveals, “It’s very difficult, she’s too good. I am trying to get there, let’s see if I am successful.” After Baby’s success, Madhurima is keen on taking up different roles to showcase her acting skills. She says, “I want to try something new with each film.
I am not against going with the flow, but I don’t want to repeat similar performances. As an actor you must give variety to the audience. Once you reach a certain level, a good script and a good director really matter, and to reach that level, you need that one right break. Films like Fashion, Cocktail, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun have inspired me and I’d love to do women-oriented films.”
