Movie review 'Lion': Balakrishna’s 1-man-show
Cast: Balakrishna, Trisha, Radhika Apte, Prakash Raj and Ali
Director: Satya Deva
Rating: Two and a half stars
After delivering a blockbuster Legend, Balakrishna is back with Lion. Trisha and Radhika Apte are the female leads, while debutant Satya Deva is the director.
The film starts with Bose (Balakrishna) opening his eyes after spending 18 months in coma. Everyone calls him Godse and tells him that he has lost his memory. He recollects the past and tries to convince everyone that he is not Godse and his name is Bose.
Once everyone comes to know the truth, the Chief Minister (Prakash Raj) tries to kidnap Bose. What is Bose’s story and how is the CM involved forms the crux of the film.
Director Satya Deva provides the screenplay and has penned the dialogues as well. The plot of the film is good, but the director could not execute it properly.
When it comes to performances, it’s Balakrishna who shines. He is portrayed in two different shades and he executes both the roles well.
The scenes between Prakash Raj and Balakrishna come out well. For Prakash Raj, the role of the CM is a cake walk. Trisha and Radhika Apte look good, but their roles are small.
Jayasudha and M.S. Narayana have been wasted. Mani Sharma’s music is average except a few mass numbers, but his background score is good. Lion is strictly for Balakrishna fans.
