Vemulawada temple to get a facelift soon

Work likely to be taken up at a cost of Rs 250 crore
Karimnagar: The ancient Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple will get a facelift, according to proposals prepared by its authorities in view of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s visit tentatively scheduled in the last week of May. The authorities made a power point presentation using graphic illustrations of various developmental work likely to be taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 250 crore.
Some of the work included in the proposals are: construction of a second stone-walled compound at Rs 15 crore, expansion of north-eastern part of the temple’s pond and to establish a religious park on the northern side of the pond at Rs 60 crore. Also, to erect a dais for celebrating Lord Shiva’s wedding at Rs 15 crore, purchase of land for various needs of the temple at Rs 80 crore, restoring a holy pond and to build additional bathing ghats at Rs 10 crore and to construct choultries at Rs 30 crore.
In addition to these, a vedic-vastu-music-classical dance institution will be set up in the temple town at Rs 10 crore. Several basic amenities will be improved with the help of the funds sought in the proposal. Also, Sri Laxmi Narasimha temple located on Nampalli hillock near Vemulawda will be improved by spending Rs 10 crore.
In the meantime, tourism authorities submitted a detailed project report to state government, seeking funds to widen the tank and to purify the water and to install food courts, landscape gardens, children playgrounds, toilets, central lighting system and pathways on its bund at an estimated cost of Rs 32.18 crore.
Similarly, irrigation department sanctioned Rs 9 crore to restore the temple pond under Mission Kakatiya programme. Boating facility can be introduced in the tank when the pond has enough water levels following the restoration. The historic temple will witness a remarkable growth once all these proposals are accepted.
When contacted, Vemulawada MLA Ramesh Babu said that the proposals were prepared as Mr Chandrasekhar Rao was keen on developing the temple on many fronts. The shrine, which was neglected during united Andhra Pradesh, would see a tremendous improvement in the TRS-led government’s regime, he added.
