Heat wave in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh will be for 5 more days

Low pressure systems in May, June often bring rainfall which pulls down temperatures

Hyderabad: Sweltering heat and abnormally high temperatures in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are likely to continue for four to five more days. Meteorologists are stumped by the prolonged wave of dry winds from the north western part of the country sweeping through the region. Interestingly, this pre-monsoon season has been devoid of any cyclonic activity in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.

Low pressure systems in May and June often bring rainfall which pulls down temperatures, but no such activity has been observed on either side of the subcontinent.
Meteorologists also said there is no probability of a low pressure system forming in either seas until a week.

The rise in temperatures could also be an effect of El Nino although scientists are non-committal about it at this point in time. Scientific models also show persistent north westerly winds blowing towards the Telangana and Andhra regions from Gujarat.
